Melanie Safka came to prominence as the youngest performer at Woodstock, an experience she recalled in her best know song Lay Down (Candles In the Rain).

Her death last month at the age of 76 came as she was working on a new album.

Mark Sumner knew Melanie and is an administrator of the Melanie Safka Appreciation Society Facebook page.
